Tuesday, December 16, 2025 - The Niger State Police Command has arrested a suspected female ammunition courier linked to criminal networks across several states.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who
disclosed this in a statement on Monday, December 15, 2025 said Zuwaira Usman,
35, was apprehended with a flask containing 2500 AK-47 ammunition.
According to the PPRO, police operatives of the Force
Intelligence Department (FID), Special Tactical Squad (STS), arrested Zuwaira
Usman, 35, of Pandogari in Rafi Local Government Area, on November 4, 2025,
following actionable intelligence.
The suspect confessed during interrogation that she was
recruited by a man identified as Lawali, whom she met in Birnin-Gwari, Kaduna
State, in September 2025.
“On November 4, 2025 at about 5pm, based on intelligence
received, Police operatives of FID STS in Niger State arrested one Zuwaira
Usman 35yrs of Pandogari, Rafi LGA. She was arrested based on information
intercepted that she specialized in transporting ammunition for hoodlums,” the
statement read.
"During interrogation, she stated that she met one
Lawali in Birnin-Gwari, Kaduna State within the month of September, 2025 where
they exchanged phone numbers and in the course of their interaction, Lawali
requested her to travel to Warri, Delta State and collect a package for him.
"She claimed that twenty thousand naira was given to
her as transport fare by Lawali and she proceeded on the journey. On getting to
Abuja, she stated that Lawali spoke with the driver and informed them where she
would be dropped in Warri.
"Zuwaira further narrated that on getting to her
destination, she met a man on a motorcycle who gave her a sack which contained
a flask with some items to deliver to Lawali.
"She said that the man was later identified as Ahmed,
and he gave her an additional thirty thousand naira for her transport back to
Kaduna. She took the item and returned to Abuja, and from Abuja to Kaduna
State.
"She took the bag to Lawali in Birnin-Gwari and it was
discovered that a total of two thousand, five hundred AK-47 ammunition were
contained in the flask delivered to Lawali.
“Further reports indicated that Ahmed was later intercepted
and arrested in Delta State, while effort is ongoing to arrest Lawali, as
investigation is intensified.”
