Monday, December 29, 2025 -The Chairman of Nigerian airline, AirPeace, compared to the rest of the world, domestic flights in Nigeria are the cheapest.
Speaking on Arise TV this morning, Onyema said
‘’Nigerians
are flying the cheapest fares in the world domestically, the cheapest. I will
prove it to you. Not this season(yuletide), generally. Nigerians are paying the
cheapest.
A one-hour
flight costs over $400 abroad, but in Nigeria, we still have tickets for
N125,000, which is less than $60. This is why the mortality rate of airlines in
Nigeria is very high; over 80 airlines have come and gone.''
He also mentioned that the increase in ticket fares is
largely due to operational and maintenance challenges.
Nigerians have in recent times lamented about the spike in
airfares domestically.
