Monday, December 29, 2025 - The national grid collapsed on Monday, December 29, as some Nigerians in different parts of the country continue to face power outages this Christmas season.
According to data obtained from the Nigerian Independent
System Operator (NISO), the power generation dropped from 2,052.37 megawatts to
139.92MW between 2pm and 3pm.
Also, out of 11 electricity distribution companies (DisCos),
NISO said only three are able to load 120MW.
Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) accounted for
80MW, while Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) took 20MW during the
period, and Benin DisCo received 20MW
