3 suspects arraigned over theft of N1.5m trees in Ekiti




Wednesday, December 17, 2025 - The police in Ekiti State have arraigned three men, Ayo Adeyanju (57), Agidigbi Olawale (50) and Emeka Uchena (30), in a magistrates’ court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over alleged conspiracy and theft of economic trees valued at N1.5 million.

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that sometime in August, 2025, at the Igimakogo area in Ado-Ekiti, the defendants stole 60 stumps of gmelina and other economic trees valued at N1,500,000:00, property of of one Ogunleye Michael.

Inspector Oriyomi explained that Ayo Adeyanju, sometime in November, 2024, on Agric Road, Ado-Ekiti, obtained N300,000 from Ogunleye Michael on the pretence to supply him with planks Sections 421, 301, 329(1)(b) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria 2021.

Counsel to the defendants, Barrister C. O. Omokhafe, urged the court to grant his clients bail.

The Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted them bail of N100,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to February 6, 2026.
