Thursday, November 13, 2025 - Three security personnel, including a police officer and two vigilante members, have been killed in a deadly ambush by suspected Fulani bandits in Idadu community, within the Agbashi Development Area of Doma Local Government, Nasarawa State.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the operatives, who were on a
routine patrol along the Doma–Idadu Road, were suddenly ambushed by heavily
armed attackers who opened fire on their patrol team.
Eyewitnesses said the assailants operated in a coordinated
“commando-style” manner, shooting at their targets without warning or any form
of confrontation.
The slain officer was said to be attached to the Agbashi
Police Division, while the two vigilante members were part of a local joint
security task force working to combat rising bandit activities in the area.
This latest attack comes barely a week after seven persons
were killed in a similar wave of violence across communities in Keana and Doma
Local Government Areas, raising concerns over the worsening insecurity in the
southern part of the state.
Despite repeated assurances from the state government that
security measures have been intensified, residents say no arrests have been
made in connection with the recent killings.
Many communities in the region have now been deserted, with
locals fleeing to safer areas amid fears of renewed attacks.
