Monday, November 3, 2025 - Former Al Jazeera and MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan has criticised U.S. President Donald Trump after he threatened possible military action against Nigeria over the reported killing of Christians.
Reacting to Trump’s post on X, where he warned that the U.S.
could “go into” Nigeria “guns-a-blazing,” Hasan wrote:
“The ‘peace president’, who says he deserved a Nobel Peace
Prize, is insanely threatening to attack and invade Nigeria.”
A statement, which has sparked global reactions, read
in part:
“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing
of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to
Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country,
‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are
committing these horrible atrocities. I am hereby instructing our Department of
War to prepare for possible action.”
He added:
“If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just
like the terrorist thugs attack our cherished Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN
GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!”
