Saturday, November 8, 2025 - The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a
71-year-old man, Jeriel Clifford Peter, for allegedly killing his 67-year-old
wife, Miltha Jeriel, during a domestic dispute.
The incident occurred on November 6, 2025, following a minor
misunderstanding between the couple that began at a beer parlour in the Demsa
Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje,
who confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, said the suspect attacked
his wife with a knife and an axe, inflicting multiple injuries on her
body.
The victim was rushed to the hospital where she was
confirmed d3ad while receiving treatment.
“The Adamawa
State Police Command has on the 4/11/2025 apprehended one Jeriel Clifford
Peter, 71, for allegedly k!lling his wife, Miltha Jeriel, aged 67 years,” the
statement read.
"The
incident occurred on the 6th of November, 2025, following a little
misunderstanding that started at a beer parlor between the couple. During the
altercation, the suspect reportedly attacked and st@bbed the victim multiple
times all over her body with a knife and axe.
"Upon
receipt of the distress call the Command deployed Police Operatives led by the
Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Demsa Division to the scene. The victim was
immediately rushed to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead while
receiving treatment. Her remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary
for autopsy.
"The
suspect has since been arrested, and the knife and axe used in committing the
offence has been recovered.
"The
Commissioner of Police, *CP Dankombo Morris, PSC(+),* has strongly condemned
this unfortunate act, and directed State Criminal Investigation Department
(SCID), Yola, to take over case and ensure discreet investigation and diligent
prosecution.
"The CP
warned against all forms of domestic violence and urge members of the public to
seek peaceful resolution of conflicts.
“He further reassures residents that the Command remains committed to ensuring justice is served and that no offender escapes lawful punishment.
