Thursday, November 13, 2025 - The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers after one of them mistakenly left his phone behind during a robbery operation.
Police said the arrest followed a complaint from one Everest
Jonathan, who reported that a group of five armed robbers invaded his home
along Jos Road, Bauchi, and stole valuable items.
The police spokesperson, Ahmed Mohammed said:
“A team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer,
CSP Holman Simon, immediately visited the scene and assessed the level of
damage and loss.”
Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the suspects,
identified as 20-year-old Alhassan Jibrin, popularly known as Babani Biri,
abandoned his Android phone at the crime scene.
This clue helped the police to trace and arrest his
accomplices, which are Lawan Adamu from Wayan Makafi, Lawan Idris, 20, from
Behind Old Airport, and Muhammad Yau, 22, also known as Madugu, from Behind
Emir’s Palace, all in Bauchi.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to committing
the crime. Items recovered from them include a travelling bag, two sets of
clothes, two pairs of sneakers, two cutlasses, an Android phone, a keypad
phone, and two torchlights.
Police said efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining gang
members still at large.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal
Investigation Department for further investigation before the suspects are
charged to court, as directed by Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu.
