Tuesday, September 2, 2025 - Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface has officially joined Bundesliga side Werder Bremen on a season-long loan for the 2025/26 campaign.
The Nigerian striker moves from Bayer Leverkusen, where he
was part of their championship-winning squad, and is expected to bring
attacking firepower to Bremen’s frontline.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Werder Bremen
will cover part of the forward’s salary as part of the agreement.
Boniface expressed his enthusiasm about the move, telling the
club’s official website: “The discussions with those in charge convinced me to
make the move to Werder Bremen. I want to contribute with my performances to
helping us achieve our common goals this season. I’m looking forward to my new
team and my time at Werder Bremen.”
Head coach Horst Steffen believes Boniface will be a key
asset:
“Victor is
physically incredibly strong, has a very good finish, and good pace. He shone
as a goalscorer and assist provider in Bayer Leverkusen’s championship-winning
season. I’m sure he can become a key player in our group this season.”
Peter Niemeyer, Head of Professional Football at Bremen, also
praised the signing, adding:
“We are
pleased that we were able to complete the loan and secure Victor’s services. He
has shown outstanding performances in the Bundesliga and proven his qualities.
We are convinced that he can continue that with us.”
The move marks a fresh start for Boniface, who will be eager
to make an immediate impact and help Bremen push for a strong Bundesliga
campaign.
