Tuesday, September 2, 2025 - Former lawmaker and ex-chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Kabiru Marafa, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of fraternising with politicians to achieve a goal and discarding them right after.
Marafa, who represented Zamfara Central in the Senate
between 2011 and 2019, aired his opinion about Tinubu while speaking on
Channels Television on Monday.
Recounting the series of events that transpired during the
2023 presidential election, Marafa noted that Tinubu secured more votes than
any other presidential candidate in Zamfara and Jigawa, the only states he
emerged victorious among the seven states in the northwest.
He added that despite his landmark victory in both states,
Tinubu gave the states in his zone two ministerial slots, while Zamfara was
only left with a minister of state slot. Marafa described this as a slap on the
face of the state.
“The person was a twelve-year member of the Federal House of
Representatives and served as the governor of the state for four years. We felt
slighted by that position. Regardless of who it is given to. We felt the
efforts we put into securing victory for the president deserve a cabinet
portfolio for Zamfara State.
“Compare this with Lagos State. Tinubu lost Lagos State, and
how many slots did Lagos get? Take Ogun for instance, how many slots did they
get,” he asked.
Marafa also cited instances of Abdullahi Ganduje and Nasir
El-Rufai, who played pivotal roles in supporting Tinubu for the presidency in
2023, and how they were tossed aside.
“Looking at the treatment meted out on Abdullahi Ganduje,
Nasir El-Riufai and me, we are now convinced that Mr President is a user and
dump leader. That is the truth about it. Anybody can call me with any name but
i am in politics to get position and impact the lives of my people.”
