Friday, August 1, 2025 - Peter Obi, the Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate, has finally reacted to the controversies going on within his inner circle as he confirmed that there is a discussion going on between him and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The former governor of Anambra state made the disclosure
through the national coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Tanko Yunusa, in
Abuja on Thursday, July 31. Yunusa explained that Obi was open to discussion
with individuals and political parties, which can bring a new Nigeria.
According to Vanguard, Yunusa confirmed the overture with
the PDP, stating that the discussion was no longer a secret because
"the PDP has made and is still making overtures." He said the leading
opposition is beckoning to the presidential hopeful. He noted that several PDP
leaders have publicly commented on it.
He explained that, as Obi himself noted, the Labour Party
chieftain is open to discussion that will rescue the country from its current
socio-economic challenges. He said the discussion was not about Peter Obi in
person but about Nigeria and Nigerians.
Yunusa also responded to the question on the deal made with
the PDP and whether a decision has been taken so far, insisting that
discussions are still ongoing and assured that a collective decision would be
taken in the interest of Nigeria. He added that an individual cannot shoulder
the tasks alone
The Obidient Movement coordinator explained that the
opposition has realised that the struggle before all those who genuinely wanted
to see Nigeria of brighter future is one that can be fought with
unity of purpose.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has posited that it would be
difficult for any Nigerian governor not to support President Bola Tinubu in the
2027 election.
Governor Sani explained that no Nigerian president has ever
supported the states and local governments as Tinubu has done.
The Kaduna governor made the comment amid alignment and
realignment from the ruling APC and other opposition parties in the country.
