Monday, July 14, 2025 - Nigeria’s National Assembly has announced the suspension of all legislative activities until Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in honor of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in London.

The leadership of the National Assembly has extended
heartfelt condolences to Buhari’s family, government and people of Katsina
State, the government and people of Nigeria. They remembered former President
Buhari for his commitment to Nigeria’s unity and his integrity.
All members of the National Assembly have been urged to
reschedule their engagements to participate fully in the burial activities of
the late President. The National Assembly has prayed that Almighty Allah grants
President Buhari’s soul eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
The suspension of legislative activities is a mark of
respect for the departed leader, who served Nigeria as President from 2015 to
2023 and previously as military head of state.
