Monday, June 23, 2025 - Anna Camp has defended her relationship with Jade Whipkey, particularly touching on their 18-year age gap.
Two days after the Pitch
Perfect actress debuted her relationship with the on-set stylist
at the Los Angeles premiere of Bride Hard, the 42-year-old clapped back at
criticism surrounding their 18-year age gap.
“I’ve dated men exactly my age and Jade is far more mature
than any of them,” Anna wrote in the comment section of an Instagram
post highlighting their age difference.
“We have more in common than anyone else I’ve ever dated and
can literally talk about anything and everything.”
“Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I’m wishing
everyone well,” she added, “especially this pride month.”
The You actress’ comments about her relationship
with the 24-year-old came nearly a month after the couple confirmed their
romance back in May.
“Her smile is a poem,” Jade wrote in a sweet message shared to her Instagram
Stories May 13, which Anna later reposted, “her eyes are roses, her laugh is
music for dancing.”
And earlier that same month, Anna—who finalised her
divorce from her Pitch Perfect male costar Skylar
Astin in 2019 after less than two years of marriage—also gave her
followers a glimpse into a romantic meal they shared over a glass of wine,
adding the simple caption, “Date night.”
Following her divorce, the Bride Hard actress has
been candid about the massive “change” she experienced in her personal
life.
“It’s been really scary and liberating at the same time,”
Anna explained at a Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour panel in
2019.
“I've had some life changes go on, and I feel more me than I
ever, ever have. It's a vulnerable place to be, but it's also really
empowering. I just feel really grounded and that the decisions I've been making
have been for the best. So, that's good."
As for the lessons she learned while navigating the difficult times? Well, the True Blood actress said: "I think that I've learned that you can go through a life change and remain positive and also remain kind and friendly and things happen for a reason."
She continued: “I've also learned that, in the face of a challenge, I can rise out above it and even be better for it.”
