Tuesday, June 24, 2025 - The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development, has sealed two major relaxation centers, Timeless Beach and Iceland Beach, as well as 180 other buildings in the Okun-Ajah and Eti-Osa areas of the state.
The ministry said this action was taken due to their failure
to comply with previous summons regarding encroachment on state-owned land.
The enforcement operation began early in the morning on June
23 and was led by the state commissioner, Dayo Bush Alebiosu. He explained that
several notices and summons had been issued to the ‘’offenders,'' but these
were ignored, leading the state government to implement strict enforcement
measures.
Alebiosu stated that over 40 ‘’offenders'' had previously
been served contravention notices for encroachment but were later accommodated
by the state government and issued E-Survey documents after fulfilling all
legal requirements. However, some individuals continue to disregard the law and
erect structures illegally, he added
The ministry reiterated its commitment to protecting
state-owned land and ensuring sustainable development along the state's
waterfronts.
“Over 20
suspected defaulters were arrested in the course of the enforcement and they
will be made to face the full wrath of the law”. Alebiosu concluded
