Tuesday, April 22, 2025 - US President Donald Trump on Monday night disclosed that he and his wife Melania will attend the funeral of Pope Francis.
In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump said: “Melania
and I will be going to the funeral of Pope Francis, in Rome.”
“We look forward to being there!”
This comes after Trump ordered that American flag be flown at half-mast
to honour the late Catholic Pontiff.
The US leader said he signed an executive order putting the
flags of the country, all of them, all federal flags and state flags at half-mast
in honor of Pope Francis.
Pope Francis died on Easter Monday at his
residence in Rome at the age of 88.
Reacting, Trump described Pope Francis as a good man, who
worked so hard and loved the world.
He said, “Rest in Peace, Pope Francis! May God bless him and
all who loved him!”
