Monday, April 28, 2025 - Three suspects have been arrested by the Western Central Regional Police Command in connection for gold robbery at Wassa Afransie in the Western Region, Ghana.
The suspects; Emmanuel Kelvin, a Nigerian national; Felix
Adjei, also known as Africa or Nana Adjei; and Kofi Appiah, alias Kesse
allegedly robbed employees of Mas Palasco Gold Buying Limited of gold valued at
GH₵199,000.00 and other valuables.
According to preliminary investigations, on April 4, 2025, Kofi Appiah, a driver with the company, and a colleague, Emmanuel Adu, were returning from Wassa Ayiem after collecting gold from a client when armed men emerged from the bush and fired warning shots.
The attackers made away with 14 pounds of gold, two mobile
phones, and an unregistered Toyota Corolla, which was later found abandoned in
a nearby community.
Subsequent police investigations led to the arrest of Kofi
Appiah at his residence in Wassa Akropong on April 21, 2025.
The two other suspects were later picked up from their
respective hideouts.
During the operation, police retrieved a Jojeff pump-action
gun with butt number 168316, a Calymm PDS pistol without a serial number, 25
rounds of 9mm ammunition, an AA cartridge, two G3 ammunitions, a locally
manufactured pistol, and GH₵65,000 in cash suspected to be proceeds from the
robbery.
The suspects are currently in custody and assisting police
with investigations.
They are expected to be put before court to face prosecution.
