Wednesday, April 23, 2025 - Troops of the Joint Task Force, Tundun Wada, have arrested a 55-year-old suspected notorious kidnapper during a security operation in Sumana village, Tundun Wada Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued to journalists by
Capt. Babatunde Zubairu, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 3 Brigade,
Kano, on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the suspect was apprehended on
April 20.
The statement added that the suspect was paraded before the
Brigade Commander, Brig.-Gen. Ahmed Tukur, who visited troops of the Forward
Operating Base (FOB) Falgore in Doguwa LGA to celebrate the Easter festival
with them.
It noted that the commander commended the troops for their
bravery and professionalism.
A cache of arms, ammunition, and other critical items were
recovered during the operation. Items listed include one fabricated AK-47
rifle, one Den gun, nine rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition, and one woodland
camouflage uniform.
Also recovered were one desert camouflage, one woodland
camouflage vest, and a Bajaj motorcycle seat suspected to be used for
concealing weapons.
Brig.-Gen. Tukur lauded the efforts of the troops,
reaffirming the commitment of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to
work with local authorities to restore peace across communities.
“The army remains dedicated to its mandate of safeguarding
lives and properties. We will not relent in our efforts to bring perpetrators
of criminal acts to justice,” the statement read.
It added that the suspect is currently in custody and
undergoing preliminary investigation.
