Tuesday, April 8, 2025 - The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two individuals for alleged involvement in criminal conspiracy and car theft.
The suspects— 30-year-old Ibrahim Uzeru from Kashere
Santuraki in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State and 35-year-old John
Paul from the Bayan Gari area of Bauchi State— were apprehended after a stolen
vehicle was traced to their possession.
According to a statement issued by the Spokesman of the
Command, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the arrest followed a report made on March
29, 2025, by Yahaya Haruna, a 41-year-old resident of Gidan Gona, Bauchi.
Haruna had parked his green 2000 model Honda Civic, with
registration number ALK-627-GG, at Yelwan Tudu Market around 6:00 p.m. and
returned shortly after to find the vehicle missing.
A team of detectives was immediately assigned to investigate
the theft and recover the car. The stolen vehicle was later intercepted along
the Maiduguri bypass near the Awala roundabout, with the two suspects on board.
“During questioning, the suspects were unable to give a
satisfactory account of the vehicle, prompting their arrest,” CSP Wakil stated.
Further interrogation revealed that Ibrahim Uzeru claimed to
have received the vehicle from his employer and had enlisted John Paul to
accompany him to Durum, where they intended to deliver it to an unknown
recipient.
Uzeru also admitted he promised Paul a N20,000 reward for
his assistance.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori has directed
that the suspects be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
