Thursday, March 27, 2025 - The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old woman, Hannatu Ibrahim, who allegedly stole $35,000 (N53,495,400.00) from her Syrian employer, Mohammed Jurdi and set his house ablaze in the New GRA neighbourhood of Gombe.
Spokesperson
of the command, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, who disclosed this in a statement on
Wednesday, March 26, 2025, said two other suspects, Ahmed Adamu, 20 and
Abubakar Ibrahim, 28, were also arrested in connection with the alleged theft.
According
to the PPRO, Ibrahim, of Kumo, Akko LGA, who worked as a cook for the Syrian
national, was arrested by a police patrol team from Gombe Division with $7,100
out of the stolen money.
"On 22/03/2025 at
about 2000hrs, a distress call was received from New GRA Gombe, behind
Legislative Quarters that first suspect who happened to be a cook to one
Mohammed Jurdi "M" a Syrian attached to Triacter Nigeria Limited
stole away his money, sum of $35,000 (53,495,400.00) and set his house
ablaze," the statement read.
"Upon receipt of the call, the Police Patrol Team from Gombe
Division swiftly swung into action and arrested the Prime suspect "Hannatu
Ibrahim".
"Upon investigation, she was found in possession of $7,100 US
dollars and the said suspect revealed that the second suspect was the first
person who came into contact with her, therefore he removed two (2) pieces of
100 dollar note.
"Immediately, the second suspect was arrested and a 100-dollar note
was found inside his wallet.
"However, the third suspect was the security man to the said
victim, who was also arrested in connection to the alleged crime.
"Exhibits Recovered: 1. Sum of $7,100 US dollars from ( 1st
suspect) 2. The sum of $100 US Dollars from (2nd suspect)
“The case will soon be charged to court upon completion of the
investigation.”
