Tuesday, February 18, 2025 - At least one person has been allegedly shot dead cult clash between members of the Vikings Confraternity and Black Axe in a Delta community on Sunday.
The cult clash, which occurred in Ozoro, the university town and
headquarters of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, claimed one
life, while others sustained injuries.
The deceased, who was alleged to be a member of the Vikings
Confraternity, was reportedly attacked and murdered by the rival group around
Etevie community in Ozoro.
Security personnel were seen patrolling and conducting raids aimed at
restoring peace and order to the town.
In a viral video circulating on social media, a young man, around his
30s, simply identified as “Sunday,” was seen lying lifeless on the ground with
injuries on several parts of his body.
According to a source who requested anonymity, the trouble began days
earlier when a young man, whose identity remains unknown, was beaten into a
stupor by a group of cultists for reasons that have not been clearly stated.
“The matter started about a week ago when one guy, whose identity I
don’t know, was beaten by a group of suspected cult members,” the source said.
At the time of filing this report, at least one person had been reported
dead, with several others injured in the course of the conflict, which has kept
the university community in a state of tension.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Bright
Edafe, confirmed the development.
