Wednesday, February 19, 2025 - Umar Namashaya Diggi, the former chairman of Kalgo Local Government Area in Kebbi State, has been reported missing following a bandit attack along the Birnin Kebbi-Diggi road.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focusing on the Lake
Chad region, reported that Diggi was allegedly pursued by an unidentified
vehicle when he reached Gayi village.
Intelligence sources revealed to the publication that the incident
occurred around 12:30 a.m. on February 17 as Diggi was returning to his village
from Birnin Kebbi.
A police source disclosed that the attackers forced him to halt, set his
Toyota Corolla (with registration number KLG 637 AA) on fire, and then fled.
His current whereabouts remain unknown.
The publication further stated that security personnel, who responded to
the scene, recovered items believed to be linked to the attack, including a
lighter, a stick, and a container emitting fuel fumes.
The state police command has initiated a thorough investigation into the
incident to determine Diggi’s fate and identify the perpetrators.
