Monday, February 17, 2025 - The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in all contested positions in the Katsina State local government elections held on Saturday.
The Chairman of the Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission
(KTSIEC), Lawal Faskari, announced the results during a press briefing on
Sunday, declaring that APC won all 34 chairmanship and 361 councillorship seats
across the state.
“I am pleased to announce that the candidates of the All Progressives
Congress (APC) have won in all the 34 local government areas and the 361 wards
in the state,” Faskari stated.
According to him, five political parties participated in the election,
including the Accord Party (AP), Booth Party (BP), African Action Congress
(AAC), African Democratic Party (ADC), and APC.
Faskari described the election as “free, fair, and credible,” commending
the electorate for their peaceful conduct throughout the voting process.
“The people of Katsina have once again demonstrated their commitment to
democracy by coming out peacefully to cast their votes. We appreciate their
role in ensuring a smooth and transparent process,” he said.
He also expressed gratitude to KTSIEC staff, ad-hoc personnel,
independent election observers, and other stakeholders for their contributions
to the success of the polls.
“We recognize the dedication of all those who worked tirelessly to
ensure that the election was conducted without any major hitches,” Faskari
added.
