Monday, January 20, 2025 - Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has described the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas as a welcome development.
Sani said the international community must step in and help victims of
the war rebuild their lives.
Posting on X, Sani wrote: “After 15 months of Israeli bombardment, the
ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas is a welcome development.
“The world must step in to help the orphans, widows, widowers, and other
victims of this horrific tragedy to rebuild their lives. Kudos to Qatar.”
On Sunday, Hamas released the first three
Israeli hostages as part of the ceasefire agreement.
The three hostages were identified as women: Romi Gonen, Emily Damari,
and Doron Steinbrecher.
They were part of the 33 hostages to be exchanged for 1,904 Palestinian
prisoners held in Israeli prisons.
On Wednesday, a three-stage ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas
was brokered.
The ceasefire brings to an end the months-long efforts by the United
States, Egypt, and Qatar to mediate between Israel and Hamas.
