Wednesday, January 15, 2025 - The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects, Abubakar Yakubu and Almustapha Hassan, for possession of locally made firearms and involvement in multiple robbery operations.
The police acting on intelligence reports invaded the suspects’
residence on January 8, 2025, in collaboration with the Peace and Security
Committee, and discovered two fabricated pistols hidden in the ceiling.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the spokesman of the
Command, Ahmed Wakil, the suspects confessed to purchasing the firearms from an
anonymous source in Alkaleri Local Government Area and engaging in robberies in
the Gwallaga and Behind NIDB areas of Bauchi.
The suspects also admitted to stealing motorcycles and household items,
including pots, which were then sold at Muda-Lawal Market.
“The pots were destroyed and packaged in kilograms, while motorcycles
were dismantled and sold in parts to buyers known as Yan Bola Jari,” Wakil
revealed
Exhibits recovered from the suspects include two fabricated pistols, two
motorcycles, one machete, two ATM cards and one ring.
