Monday, January 13, 2025 - Operatives of the Warewa division of the Ogun
State Police Command have arrested one Sherif Oyeniyi for allegedly attacking a
motorcyclist with a razor blade and inflicting severe deep cuts on his neck in
Arepo area of the state.
The victim, a 27-year-old motorcyclist identified as Ahmed Owolabi, was
conveying the suspect to his destination when the incident occurred.
Confirming the incident on Saturday, the Command’s
spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, stated that the incident happened at about 4:15
pm.
Odutola noted that upon the information, the Warewa Divisional Police
Officer quickly transported the victim to a hospital for medical attention and
arrested the suspect.
She stated that upon interrogation, the suspect reportedly whispered
that he had previously visited a native doctor, and when questioned if a blood
token was required, he said it was the handwork of the devil.
The police spokesperson said, “On January 11, 2025, at about 4:15 PM,
Alani Muritala, a resident of Shefu Elede Ibafo, came to the police station to
report that his brother, Ahmed Owolabi, a 27-year-old motorcyclist from Onimane
Magada Ibafo, had been injured by Sherif Oyeniyi.
“The complainant stated that while Ahmed a commercial motorcyclist was
conveying Sherif to his destination, in Arepo and nearing Sherif’s residence at
Orange Estate, Sherif attacked him with a razor blade, inflicting severe deep
cuts on his neck in two separate locations.
“The suspect has been taken into custody for questioning. Notably, the
suspect displayed no remorse for his actions, but muttered he had earlier
visited a seer otherwise known as a voodoo doctor.
“He was interrogated if the doctored required blood token or initiation,
he replied by saying “it was the devil’s handiwork”.
Odutola disclosed that investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be
charged in court as soon as it is completed.
