Monday, January 13, 2025 - Barcelona have won this year’s Spanish Super Cup following a stunning 5-2 win over arch-rivals Real Madrid on Sunday.
Kylian Mbappé had given the La Liga champions an early lead in the 5th
minute in Jeddah.
But Barça bounced back in the most incredible way to swing the game in
their favour.
Lamine Yamal scored the equaliser in the 22nd minute before Robert
Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Alejandro Balde all scored ahead of the interval to
give their side a 4-1 lead.
Raphinha added a fifth two minutes after the break, but things got more
complicated when goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny was sent off for a foul on Mbappé
in the 56th minute.
Rodrygo pulled one back from a free-kick in the 60th minute, but it was
not enough to truly mount a comeback.
This victory means Barcelona have won their 15th Super Cup and their
first since 2023.
