Friday, January 10, 2025 - The Nigerian Navy personnel of Operation Delta Sanity II, on January 6, 2025, discovered an illegal refining site around the Igbomotoru area of Bayelsa State with a large quantity of stolen crude oil.
Air Commodore Adams Aliu, Director of Information, said in a statement
on Thursday that the illicit products were seized and handled in compliance
with existing regulations.
The statement further added that on January 7, 2025, the naval personnel
also intercepted a large wooden boat siphoning crude oil from the Enang C
Platform in the Iko area of Akwa Ibom State.
The boat reportedly had onboard two 10,000-litre capacity GP tanks laden
with an estimated quantity of 100,000 litres of stolen crude oil; twelve
10,000-litre capacity GP tanks; three service tanks; four submersible pumps;
and three outboard engines.
“On January 7, 2025, NN personnel of Forward Operating Base Igbokoda
discovered an illegal refinery site in the Obe-Nla Riverine Community, Ilaje
Local Government Area of Ondo State. The operation led to the deactivation of
nine interlinked illegal refinery site camps, including five active reservoirs.
“Items recovered included approximately 20,000 litres of crude oil,
1,400 litres of illegally refined automotive gas oil, pumping machines, and
locally fabricated boats,” the statement further said.
