Saturday, December 14, 2024 -A 40-year-old man, Imoleayo Akinlami, has been arraigned before an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court over the alleged m3rder of a 41-year old bar owner, Olatubosun Robert, known as ‘Oluomo.’
The deceased was gunned down by unknown
assailants outside his bar in Omoloore, Yaba in Ondo State on.
The suspect was arrested by operatives from the Yaba Police Division of
the Command, following the recovery of his Identify Card at the scene of the
crime on the night of the incident.
After a thorough investigation of the case by the Homicide Department of
the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Akinlami was subsequently
arraigned on two counts charge of conspiracy and murder.
The prosecutor, Josephine Awana informed the court that on October 20,
2024, at about 8:35 pm at Lapeloye Junction, Yaba, Ondo town, the defendant
conspired with others at large to shoot one Olatunbosun Robert, with a gun, on
his head, which resulted in his death.
Awana said the offence contravened Sections 324 and 319 of the Criminal
Code, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant at the
correctional centre, pending the issuance of advice from the office of the
Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The plea of the defendant was, however, not taken.
Defence counsel, T. Okesola, prayed the court for an adjournment to
enable the defendant file a counter affidavit to the application sought by the
prosecution.
Chief Magistrate Olateju Odenusi-Fadeyi adjourned the case till December 13, for the hearing and ruling on the application and ordered that the defendant should remain in police custody.
