Tuesday, September 10, 2024 -One person has been killed while four others were abducted as bandits attacked Gumburawa village, in Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Gumburawa, situated near Usmanu Danfodio University on the outskirts of Sokoto
city, was attacked in the wee hours of Monday, September 9, 2024.
One of the abducted victims is a 300-level student
of the Usmanu Danfodio University identified as Fodio Abdullahi.
A resident, Malam Sa’idu Muhammad Gumburawa, who had previously been kidnapped
by bandits, told Daily Trust that the attackers targeted some houses during
their 30-minute raid.
“They killed one person and kidnapped four others. They arrived around midnight
and left after about 30 minutes,” he said.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the Sokoto State Police Command, SP
Ahmed Rufa’i, said he would provide further details after confirming the
incident with the Divisional Police Office in the area.
