Thursday, June 27, 2024 -A 22-year-old man, Mohammed Moda from Burtu village in Ringim Local Government Area ofGovernment Area of Jigawa State, has been arrested by police operatives for allegedly threatening to kidnap two persons.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu
Adam, disclosed this information to Newsmen in a statement made available on
Wednesday.
According to Shiisu, Yakubu Bala of Larabar
Zango Village in Ajingi LGA, Kano State, on Tuesday, 11/06/2024 at about
1600hrs, reported at Ringim Police Station that unknown persons were
threatening him, demanding a sum of two million naira (N2,000,000.00) in cash
or else his wife would be kidnapped.
Shiisu stated that the suspects went ahead
to provide a POS account located in Ringim town for the transaction.
He went on to explain that the complainant
made a deposit of N900,000.00.
“Upon receipt of the report, detectives from
Ringim Division promptly acted on credible intelligence, stormed the POS shop,
and arrested Mohammed Moda of Burtu village, Ringim, who came to withdraw the
ransom,” Adam stated.
Shiisu said that the police discovered seven
hundred and ninety-two thousand naira (N792,000.00) on the suspect during the
search.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed
to the crime and implicated one Bashari Beto as his accomplice,” Adam added.
He said the case is currently under investigation and will be taken to court.
