Monday, February 12, 2024 - Some Nigerian Governors and their deputies elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday met in Abuja, the country's capital city.
The meeting which took place at the Oyo
State Governors’ lodge in Asokoro was fixed to make a resolution on how to find
lasting solutions to the current economic hardships in the country.
Among those at the Oyo State Governors’
lodge in Asokoro where the meeting is taking place are the Bauchi State
Governor, Bala Mohammed, Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Agbu Kefas
(Taraba), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara) and Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau).
Others are; Deputy Governor of Enugu State,
Ifeanyi Ossai, and Deputy Governor of Delta State, Monday John Onyeme.
The governors would assess the country's
status in order to advise the Federal Government, as well as the insecurity and
political environment in Edo State ahead of the state's next governorship
election.
There have been protests in certain states
around the country over the current difficulty, with the government recently
directing the release of grains to alleviate the situation.
Meanwhile in Edo, there is serious
controversy and uncertainty concerning the party’s preparations towards the Edo
governorship election with nine of the 10 governorship aspirants threatening to
approach the court over the handling of the process.
