Tuesday, November 3, 2026 - The Taraba State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, maintaining public order, and ensuring that criminal elements have no safe haven in the state.
The assurance was given on Monday by the Commissioner of
Police, Edwin Ogbeghagha, during the handover of refurbished operational
vehicles to the Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU.
Ogbeghagha charged the Officer-in-Charge of the unit, Ayuba
Yohanna, and other personnel to ensure their effective utilisation in
strengthening the unit's operational capacity.
He said the initiative was aimed at improving mobility,
response capabilities and operational readiness, particularly in tackling
violent crimes and other security threats across the state.
The police commissioner urged officers of the unit to remain
professional, disciplined and vigilant in the discharge of their duties, while
upholding the core values of the Nigeria Police Force and respecting the
fundamental rights of citizens.
"Effective policing requires not only dedication and
professionalism but also adequate operational logistics to ensure prompt
responses to security threats", the commissioner stressed.
Ogbeghagha assured residents that the command would continue
to explore practical measures to enhance its operational capacity and
strengthen efforts to combat criminal activities across the state.
The command also called on members of the public to support
the police by providing timely and credible information that could assist in
preventing crime and apprehending offenders.
It assured residents that information supplied would be
treated with the necessary confidentiality.

operational efficiency and sustained collaboration with the public towards
ensuring a safer and more secure state.
