Friday, November 6, 2026 -A Kano State Sharia Court has ordered the remand of two vigilante operatives at a correctional centre over the alleged killing of a young man, Umar Muhammad Bachirawa.
The defendants, Mas’udu Abdullahi Bachirawa and Kabiru Adamu
Bachirawa, were brought before the court by the police over allegations that
they killed Umar following a disagreement involving a dog.
The case was heard by Garba Hamza Malafa, while the
prosecution was led by Awaisu Sani Lawan, who asked the court to read the
charges to the defendants.
After the charges were read, both men pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor then requested an adjournment to allow him to
seek legal advice from the Kano State Attorney-General’s Office.
The court granted the request and adjourned the case until
December 16, 2026, for further proceedings.
