Saturday, October 31, 2026 - Media personality Nancy Umeh has criticised the family of late Toluwasing over their public disagreement with his widow concerning his burial arrangements.
In a video shared online, Nancy accused the family of using
social media to pressure the grieving woman into accepting their demands.
“We are watching in real time a widow get bullied by her
late husband's family on the internet. The internet is being used as a weapon,”
she said.
According to Nancy, marriage gives a wife the right to be
involved in decisions concerning her husband's burial, and the family should
not attempt to impose their wishes on her through public pressure.
“She has every right to determine where he will be buried.
And using the blogs, using Twitter, using people to try and get her to succumb
to your wishes is unfair,” she stated.
Nancy also expressed concern about the widow's emotional
well-being, recalling how her own father struggled to speak for two weeks after
losing her mother.
She argued that the disagreement should have been handled
privately rather than through repeated public statements.
“Yes, he was your son, but I have one request. Free this
woman. Free this widow. You are causing a lot of harm to this woman by coming
online every single day to make demands,” she said.
The media personality further condemned relatives who
allegedly threatened the widow online, insisting that women should not be
expected to resolve strained relationships between their husbands and in-laws.
“It is not our job as women to repair broken relationships
between husbands and their families. Leave this woman alone, please,” she
added.
