Tuesday, October 6, 2026 -The Jigawa State House of Assembly has passed the 2026 Budget Review and Supplementary Appropriation Bill of N46.3 billion into law.
The passage followed the consideration and approval of 186
recommendations contained in the supplementary budget during the Assembly’s
plenary on Monday.
Presenting the bill for consideration, the Majority Leader
and Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Lawan Muhammad
Dansure, said the supplementary appropriation would increase the state’s 2026
budget from the original N901.841 billion to N948.210 billion.
He said the additional resources would be channelled to
various Ministries, Departments and Agencies to strengthen the implementation
of key government programmes and projects.
According to him, the review includes additional revenue
estimates of N24.653 billion, as well as N49.878 billion in savings to be
reallocated to various budget lines.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu
Dangyatin, said the supplementary budget placed greater emphasis on critical
sectors, particularly agriculture and education.
Dangyatin said the budget review was in line with the state
government’s commitment to prudence, accountability and transparency in the
management of public resources.
He explained that the exercise was aimed at ensuring that
available resources were directed towards programmes and projects capable of
improving the socio-economic wellbeing of the people of Jigawa State.
The Assembly also approved a supplementary appropriation of
N17.109 billion for the 27 Local Government Councils in the state.
The Speaker said the additional funding would support the
councils in delivering essential services and implementing development
programmes at the grassroots.
With the passage of the supplementary appropriation, Jigawa
State’s 2026 budget now stands at approximately N948.210 billion.
