Friday, October 23, 2026 - A man who quit his career as a PhD scientist to become a full-time stay-at-home dad has apologised to his wife and other mothers after experiencing the demands of raising children.
The father of two toddlers revealed that he previously
questioned why his wife couldn't keep the house tidy while caring for their
children.
“I used to come home from work, see the dishes in the sink,
laundry undone, house in a mess, and quietly wonder, what has she been doing
all day?” he recalled.
However, nearly six months into his new role, he admitted
that despite spending his days cooking, cleaning, changing nappies and managing
his children's tantrums, the house sometimes still looks like nothing has been
done.
“But everything that matters has been done,” he said, adding
that the experience taught him to appreciate unpaid domestic work.
He also acknowledged that pregnancy, childbirth,
breastfeeding and postpartum recovery involve sacrifices he may never fully
understand.
The scientist said earning his PhD had once seemed like his
toughest achievement, but caring for his children had taught him lessons no
university could.
Apologising to his wife, he urged other husbands and fathers
to share parenting responsibilities rather than simply appreciate their
partners.
He added that his wife's birthday was approaching and that
after years of supporting his dreams, it was now his turn to support hers.
