Wednesday, October 7, 2026 -Husband of actress and fashion guru Nana Akua Addo has denied claims of assault, as he revealed the injury seen in viral videos and photographs occurred about five years ago.
Lawyers for Harold Duodu Norman issued the response after
videos and photos of Nana Akua Addo showing an injury to her lip began
circulating online, with captions suggesting that she had been assaulted by her
husband.
According to Norman’s lawyers, the incident dates back to
2021 and has now resurfaced in a bid to court public sympathy due to an ongoing
legal proceeding.
They said the circumstances surrounding the injury are
connected to criminal investigations before the Ghana Police Service’s Domestic
Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), as well as a civil case filed at the
court.
The lawyers claim that on the day of the incident, Norman
returned from an event and was confronted by Nana Akua Addo over alleged
infidelity. They allege that during the confrontation, she attempted to stab
him with a knife.
According to their account, Norman picked up a dressing
mirror with wooden cladding and used it to shield himself from the knife as it
was allegedly swung towards his chest.
The lawyers say the knife struck the mirror, causing it to
break, and a piece of the shattered mirror hit Nana Akua Addo on the lip,
resulting in the injury seen in the circulating material.
They therefore reject the suggestion that Norman assaulted
his wife and insist that the injury occurred in the course of what they
describe as his attempt to protect himself.
The lawyers further claim that Norman took Nana Akua Addo to
hospital immediately after the incident for treatment.
They have also questioned why the videos and photographs,
which they say were recorded at the time, have resurfaced years later, alleging
that their circulation is being used to influence public opinion while the
couple’s legal dispute is before the relevant authorities.
The legal team said Norman has chosen not to engage in an
extensive public response because the issues surrounding the couple are
currently before the courts and DOVVSU.
They urged media organisations to exercise caution in
reporting and commenting on the matter, stressing that the viral footage does
not, in their view, provide the complete circumstances surrounding the injury.
The lawyers also made several other allegations concerning previous incidents of domestic conflict within the marriage, including claims involving members of the household.
