Monday, October 26 2026 - A rapper has been remanded in custody on firearms charges following an incident in which a police officer suffered a gunshot wound to his foot in Nottingham city centre.
Aisha Zaman, 27, also known as A1 or Bandit, appeared at
Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday, October 23, charged with possessing a
prohibited firearm and possessing it with intent to commit an indictable
offence. The charges relate to an adapted shotgun that allegedly discharged at
a bus stop in Angel Row at approximately 4.50 a.m. on October 18. The injured
officer, named in court as PC Lee Lane, had approached two people when the
incident occurred.
Prosecutor Mairin Long told magistrates that Zaman allegedly
took the weapon from a man and placed it inside her jacket. The court heard
that it subsequently fell to the ground and discharged after the officer
arrived. PC Lane remains in a stable condition in hospital and has undergone
several operations, according to the prosecution.
Zaman, from Collison Street in Hyson Green, spoke only to
confirm her personal details. Members of her family attended the hearing.
Magistrates remanded her in custody ahead of a plea hearing at Nottingham Crown
Court on November 20. Police have also arrested several other people in
connection with the investigation, including four on suspicion of assisting an
offender.
The report said Jahmal Ruddock-Senior, 35, was due to appear
at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 26. Nottingham East MP
Nadia Whittome expressed sympathy for the injured officer and his family, while
the Police Federation of England and Wales highlighted the risks officers face.
Detective Chief Superintendent Rich Bull thanked the public
for their support and said the force was assisting PC Lane during his
treatment. He added that the officer and his family were being kept informed
about the investigation and had requested privacy. The allegations against
Zaman have yet to be determined in court.
