Tuesday, October 20, 2026 - Suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked soldiers, including a major leading a military convoy, in an ambush near Kanamma village in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State, leading to their deaths.
The attack occurred at about
4 pm on Monday, October 19, 2026, with local sources saying an explosion struck
the convoy’s first vehicle before the attackers opened fire on other vehicles.
It was reported that the
major and three other soldiers died in the initial attack, while additional
troops were killed in the ensuing gun battle.
The ambush comes amid
persistent security threats along the Geidam–Kanamma and Mayamti routes, which
sources said had remained closed for months.
