Wednesday, September 2, 2026 - Four members of the same family have been confirmed de@d after a three-storey building collapsed at Popo Giwa, Ilorin, Kwara State, on Tuesday morning, September 1.
The building came crashing in the early hours of today, with
eight members of the family initially trapped beneath the rubble.
Rescue agents were, however, able to rescue four out of the
eight persons initially trapped under the rubble.
Residents of the area say the father of the family was a
serving soldier, while his wife served as a casual staff member at the Michael
Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies, Ilorin.
A child identified as Firdaus, the
second-to-last born of the family, was among those rescued alive from the
rubble as emergency responders intensified the operation.
Rescue operation is still ongoing.
