SOLUDO faces backlash after releasing alleged records of PETER OBI’s debts “What exactly is the source of your bitterness and misery?”

Thursday, September 17, 2026 - The Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, came under heavy criticism on Wednesday following the release of alleged records of loan taken by presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC Peter Obi, when he served as governor of the state.

The Anambra State government on Wednesday released what it termed the public debt records of Peter Obi, while he was governor of the state.

The government said Obi’s administration left outstanding loans as well as arrears of salaries, pensions and gratuities inherited by subsequent administrations amounting to N127 billion.

In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, Dr Law Mefor, the government said the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo had cleared about N22 billion in inherited gratuity arrears owed to retired state and local government employees and teachers.

The government shared the analysis of the alleged unpaid debts on its official X handle, @AnambaNewMedia.

However, some X users took to the comment section to criticize the Anambra State governor, accusing him of engaging in bitter politics against his predecessor.
