Wednesday, September 23, 2026 - A suspected human trafficker identified as Rita was arrested in Aliade, Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State, in connection with the trafficking of underage girls.
The suspect was arrested on Monday, September 21, 2026.
According to activist, Zege Orkwande Yaaya, four of the
minors were intercepted at the Benue Links Nigeria Limited motor park in
Aliade, while the remaining three were rescued from Rita’s residence.
It was gathered that the suspect keeps the girls in her room
before sending them out in batches to Ghana for prostitution.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the Benue State
Police Command at the Aliade Division, pending the transfer of the case to
Makurdi.
