Wednesday, September 9, 2026 - Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani has reacted to the attendance of the Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Peter Obi, at the inauguration of the campaign office of his Allied Peoples Movement counterpart, Seyi Makinde.
Likening the political gesture to commercial brand conflict,
Sani criticized the cross-party appearance in a public statement posted on his
social media account on Tuesday.
“Peter is selling Pepsi and he is
doing promo for Coke,” Sani wrote
The comment comes after Obi's appearance in Abuja on Monday
for the official opening of Makinde’s presidential campaign headquarters. The
event drew several prominent political figures, including the National Leader
of the APM and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
Addressing attendees, Mohammed cautioned political observers
against underestimating the APM or its presidential candidate ahead of the 2027
general elections. Obi’s presence at the APM event has sparked widespread
political commentary given his status as the flag-bearer for the Nigeria
Democratic Congress.
