Thursday, September 10, 2026 - The police in Osun state have arrested a man identified as Taye Kasali for allegedly m#rdering his mother, Kudirat Kasali and burying her remains in a shallow grave within the family farm.
According to the command's spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi,
Kasali claimed he k!lled his mum because of the dispute they had over their
family land.
“On 1st
September 2026 at about 7:30 pm, there was a report at Bode-Osi Division that
one Mrs Kudirat Kasali and her son Taye Kasali were missing.
Following
the report, Police Operatives commenced an investigation and, through
intelligence-led investigation, the suspect, one Taye Kasali ‘m’ (son), was
arrested on 7th September 2026 in connection with the crime. The suspect was
thoroughly interrogated, which led to his confession.
During the
course of interrogation, the suspect claimed that his mother had allegedly been
referring to him as a mad person and had also threatened to lease out the
farmland, which he described as the major source of livelihood for the family.
The suspect further confessed that he k!lled his mother on 31/8/2026 by
slitting her throat with a machete and subsequently buried her body in a
shallow grave within the farm.”
Ojelabi further said that, in the course of the
investigation, the suspect led police operatives to the location of the shallow
grave, where the remains of the deceased were recovered alongside the machete
allegedly used in committing the crime.
The PPRO added that the State Commissioner of Police,
Ibrahim Zungura, had directed a thorough investigation into the incident,
saying the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of the probe.
Zungura also assured members of the public that justice
would be served in accordance with the law.
