Saturday, September 12, 2026 - Famous music star Adekunle Gold has said Nigeria is not a true democratic nation.
Speaking in a recent episode of the One54 Podcast, Adekunle
explained that he believed his colleague, Davido, appealed to United States
President Donald Trump to pay close attention to the recently held Osun State
governorship election because Nigeria does not practise true democracy.
The ‘Orente’ crooner emphasised that Nigeria is not
operating like a democratic country.
Adekunle Gold said he hoped the current administration of
President Bola Tinubu would do better than the previous one in terms of good
governance and upholding democratic values.
“I think Davido sent that message to Donald Trump because we
are not truly practising democracy in Nigeria. We are not doing what a
democratic society should do. I just hope this administration does better than
the previous one,” he said.
