Wednesday, September 16, 2026 - Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 10 kidnapped civilians during a swift operation against armed terrorists in Katsina State.
The operation followed reports that terrorists had abducted
residents of Unguwan Daudu and Unguwan Chibauna communities in Funtua Local
Government Area.
Following receipt of actionable intelligence, troops
deployed around the Sabuwa axis were mobilised to intercept the terrorists as
they fled with the victims.
The sustained military pursuit reportedly put the terrorists
under pressure, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into the
surrounding area.
The troops subsequently secured all 10 victims, comprising
three adult males, six females and one infant, and moved them to safety.
The rescued victims are expected to be handed over to the
Sabuwa Local Government authorities for medical evaluation and subsequent
reunification with their families.
The successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts by
Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist activities and rescue civilians
abducted by criminal elements across the North-West.
