Thursday, September 24, 2026 - A 49-year-old man, Balamau Lardi, has been arrested in Adamawa State for allegedly stabbing his wife, Biyagwal Balamau, in the ribs.
The Adamawa State Police Command said
on Thursday that the suspect allegedly stabbed his 37-year-old wife
with a knife at Kurnyi Tudu Village in Guyuk Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued by the command’s Police
Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the incident occurred on
Wednesday, September 23.
The statement said the police received information about the
incident and operatives of the Guyuk Divisional Police Headquarters immediately
mobilised to the scene, rescued the victim and arrested the suspect.
It added that the victim sustained grievous injuries to the
left side of her ribs and was evacuated to a medical facility, where she
underwent surgery and is receiving treatment.
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigation
continues, the command said.
The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabir
Umar Hassan, condemned the alleged act of gender-based violence and directed
the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation
Department to take over the case for diligent investigation and prosecution.
