Friday, September 11, 2026 - Nigerian businessman and political commentator Isaac Fayose has criticised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike over the size of his convoy, amid the economic hardship facing Nigerians.
In a video shared online, Fayose questioned why Nigerians
are being urged to manage the current economic situation while government
officials move around in large convoys.
“The federal government of Nigeria are telling you and I to
manage for now because the economy is down. But look at the minister’s convoy,”
he said.
Fayose questioned how much fuel would be required to power
the numerous vehicles in Wike’s convoy each day, arguing that the resources
could be better used to address challenges such as poor roads and healthcare.
He also questioned why a minister and former governor would
require such a large convoy, comparing Wike’s security arrangement with that of
some of Africa’s wealthiest businessmen.
Fayose urged Nigerians to question how public resources are
being used instead of simply accepting the government’s call for them to endure
economic hardship
