Sunday, August 30, 2026 - Suspected kidnappers have abducted two passengers after blocking the Bokkos-Barkin Ladi Road in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack occurred at about 8:40 pm. on Friday, August 28,
when troops of Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace, responded to a distress call
about the incident.
In a post shared on X, counter-insurgency expert Zagazola
Makama said that when the troops arrived, they found that the gunmen had
blocked the road and stopped a vehicle driven by Mr Kollog Dakwan. Two
passengers in the vehicle were reportedly taken away by the attackers.
The troops quickly moved into the surrounding bushes to
search for the kidnappers and rescue the victims.
However, the initial search did not lead to any contact with
the attackers.
Security forces are continuing the search for the abducted
passengers, while efforts are also underway to arrest those behind the attack.
Patrols and surveillance have been increased along the road
and in nearby areas to prevent further attacks.
The incident has raised fresh concerns about the safety of
major roads in parts of Plateau State, where kidnapping and other criminal
activities remain a challenge.
Operation Enduring Peace is expected to continue its search
and clearance operations in the area while working with local residents to
gather information that could help rescue the victims and apprehend the
attackers.
