Tuesday, August 25, 2026 - A member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly has demanded an immediate explanation from the management of Umaisha General Hospital regarding the whereabouts of medical equipment and comfort items he personally donated to the facility.
The lawmaker expressed his dissatisfaction during a recent
oversight visit to the hospital. He directly questioned staff over the
disappearance of more than 50 ceiling fans, 40 standing fans, and 50
orthopaedic mattresses that he had previously supplied.
The confrontation gained widespread attention after a viral
video surfaced online, showing the visibly angry politician demanding a full
accounting of the items from hospital officials.
According to the lawmaker, the items were purchased entirely
with his personal funds. The donation was intended to upgrade the facility's
infrastructure, improve conditions for patients, and support healthcare workers
serving the local community.
“I bought
over 50 ceiling fans, over 40 standing fans, 50 orthopaedic mattresses,. Where
are they?” he said.
He then challenged the hospital official to show him the
mattresses he had purchased.
“How can you
tell me this is the mattress I bought? Can you show the mattresses I bought? I
bought them for my people,” he said.
The lawmaker also demanded to know the whereabouts of the
ceiling and standing fans
“Where are
the ceiling fans? I bought more than 50 ceiling fans. Standing fans, I bought
about 40. Where are they?” he asked.
